Ok Ok, I know there are better titles out there, but it kinda fits, becuase I have the feeling I'm gonna be rambling...
I guess we will start recent and then go farther back.
So this Friday I have to take a skills test for the national registry of EMTs. Here's how it works I will have to go to different rooms and perform the skills needed in that room the right way and under a certain time limit. There are five rooms (I think, it might be six...) consisting of Trauma, Medical, Spinal Immobilization, AED, (Automated External Defibrillator), and a random which is hopefully something easy like long-bone splinting...
There will be an evaluator that will evaluate me make sure I don't miss anything critical like oxygen or C-spine.
Hmn... thats so recent it hasn't even happened yet... Moving forward! or in this case backward...Actually backwards is still ahead.
Tomorrow I have the final tests for the course, which include a similar skills test along with a written test.
I am have been seeing a lot of little red snakes on this post...
I have signed up for the paramedic course and will be completing the last few requirements this week.
Hiiiiya!
^now that is what you can do with a title untitled.
We got back from a weekend camping trip to McCall today, it was a lot of fun, we played beach volleyball (I quickly decided I liked court volleyball MUCH better... too much sand on the beach I guess...)
Jacob and I rode up to the point and back several times with friends, which is about a 5m ride and very fun. We did swimming in the afternoons along with volleyball and Frisbee. While playing Frisbee in the water I accidentally hit some lady with the Frisbee... So from then on we played far from bystanders. (I'd say innocent if she had been but she walked right in the line of fire so... We had some really great meals including steak and homemade Oreo like cookies! :p
At night we played games and had some worship time. Saturday night I beat Mrs. Shaffer as scrabble using my awesome ability of adding "S"s and using questionable words.
Muahahahahahaha
Last week I participated in a MCI (mass casualty incident) which was really interesting, I was the triage officer. So what happened was I was part of the first ambulance on seen so the other guy took command and I took triage. What a triage officer is supposed to do is run around fixing life threatening injuries and tagging the patients Black, (which means we wont touch that person until the very end, so basically dead) Red, (needs to see a surgeon in less than an hour) Yellow, (needs to see a surgeon soon but not as critical as Red) Green, (the walking wounded, so basically those people with minor injuries).
Another thing the triage officer does is to tell command the location of patients and number of patients. I did ok at it for my first time, I did let one pt (patient) bleed out by accidently putting the tourniquet on in the wrong spot... But all in all it was a good learning experience. :)
Now I think I mentioned that I was running a 5k a while back. Well I did and I enjoyed it, my time was 29:05 or something which is 30 seconds faster than my usual and the course was slightly longer than a normal 5k. My Grandparents from my Mom's side came down and cheered me on. Then walked through a bunch of booths with friends.
That was on a Saturday, so on Sunday we went down to Table Rock in Boise and climbed around and took pictures of us jumping of 15 foot cliffs; so that was a fun weekend.
My back has been hurting lately so I will be going to the chiropractor sometime this week.
Well time to end this untitled post so...
Seeya!
Jonathan
