Four... three... two... one... The door opened softly into the snow, the dude listened for any sound that might betray "the small ones" waiting in ambush outside, deciding that all was clear, he thought to himself as he thought of it later "Game on".
It was 1347, 5/18/20-- the occasion: first snowfall of the year.
Quickly glancing around and seeing nothing suspicious, the dude bent and grabbed a glove full of snow and began packing and turning it until it was an hard, cold, aerodynamic, long-range weapon. Now armed, the dude turned the corner of the building just as a shout rang out behind him. Half sliding and half running he raced over and ducked behind a table and chairs then dropped to his knees as his gloved hands automatically found snow and packed and turned, packed and turned.
He waited, but the enemy seemed to have grown some caution since their last encounter with him. Quickly changing his course of action he jumped up and headed around to see if he could climb the fence and catch the "small ones" off guard.
Looking over the fence he suppressed a laugh as he saw one of them standing just within range and looking the other direction. Then, hefting one of the icy balls in his hand, he judged the distance and let fly. The missile flew a bit to much to the right and landed with a thud, quickly ducking down before the small one could locate him he waited a few seconds then popped back up and launched this time there was no cross-breeze and his target staggered back and shouted for help!
Then, glancing back the way he had come, he saw another small one running toward him with an SB in each hand. Grabbing snow, he dodged one of the SBs and raced away as the small one fell back waiting for reinforcements.
As he looked for a good place to withstand a siege, all three of the small ones converged on him. quickly launching a SB he took one out then started grabbing snow and hurling SBs as fast as he could make them, however before he could do much else a SB took him in the side and he had to run for it.
"One hit, two hits left" he thought as he left his pursuers in the powder.
Circling around he saw the small ones making SBs like they were about to start war in Russia.
Deciding to launch a few high flying SBs to announce his presence. He quickly went about the task of making some. As soon as he had a fair supply he launched a few then charged at his startled would-be assassins. One of the small ones lost hope and fled, and one was disabled with a well aimed ball, the last one took cover behind a car and both him and the dude, SBs in hand, started circling and launching a few SBs here and there.
Finally the dude jump up and launched a SB straight at the small one, who dodged the SB and nailed the dude with his...
Quickly falling back and with only one hit left he look for something that would help and noticed the remains of a snowman. He grabbed one of the balls that made up the body and advanced on the small one and hurled it at him. It missed by an inch and the dude dodged a SB and retreated to for ammo.
As the he launched SB after SB he relized that no matter what he did it was pointless. They just never died, after a few minutes and a few close dodges a stray SB found its mark and the dude fell to the ground. Defeated.

I liked your creativity here. It sounds like a lot of fun. One against what, nine others?
ReplyDeleteYou have a new house now? Is it nearby? Did you build it?
Thanks, actually it was three to one, So we had it set up that ever time one of the small ones got hit all they had to do was touch either our front door or back door and they could get back into the fight. so really the game could only end with me getting three hits, it was still fun though.
ReplyDeleteYeah we are moving to a different house and no it isn't really nearby its about 25 miles to the east-south, no we actually bought it.

Great post Jonathan! We can just picture in our mind exactly where you are when you dodge those SBs and where the others are! Pretty soon we won't be able to do that until we visit your new surroundings. You write really well -- keep up the good work! Praying daily for you (Grandma) and waiting to ride to Boise with you (Grandpa) -- see you soon!
